How did a small regulation on masks provoke such unrest? The answer seems to be: it didn't. All it did was give a group of citizens who were unhappy with governance long before the pandemic, a method of visualization. No mask? No compliance. No support for the government. But it may be dangerous and even anti-democratic to simply put off these protestors as brainless and ignorant and not worth our while.
